About Health England

Health England: the national reference group for health and wellbeing was established with a remit to take forward recommendations in the White Paper 'Our health, our care, our say: a new direction for community services'.  The work of Health England was completed in 2009.

The Chair of Health England is Professor Julian Le Grand, Richard Titmuss Professor of Social Policy,  London  School  of Economics and Political Science.  Professor Le Grand's Beveridge Memorial Lecture 'The Giants of Excess:  a Challenge to the Nation's Health' can be found here:   Beveridge Memorial Lecture .

The Secretariat for Health England is based at the Public Health Resource Unit in Oxford which is part of the NHS organisation 'Supporting Public Health' which includes the South East Public Health Observatory and the Oxford Cancer Intelligence Unit.  The secretariat can be contacted at secretary@healthengland.org .
